FEEDBACK BLOG: Giving it Away: How Free Music Makes More Than Sense

In regards to Derek’s article - I only wish artists (especially indy artists) were far more willing to help support podcasters who are wanting to share their (the artists’) music with the world.

Most podcasters (like myself) aren’t able to offer any compensation to the artists, but we’re passionate about the music and are in the same boat as the artists - trying to make it against the “big boys” who can afford to license the top artists for their shows.

I’d do a regular music podcast (in addition to somethingbeautifulpodcast.com) in a heartbeat if it didn’t take hours of research to find music that was “podcast friendly.”

The majority of these artists are looking for connections and exposure but they won’t get it from terrestrial radio - but they can get exposure from podcasts and other Internet radio sources - if they’re willing to share their music.

derekwebb:

Music matters. It’s so integral and pervasive in our culture that it almost feels invisible. It’s even hard to imagine walking into almost any store without hearing music overhead. Culture provides a constant soundtrack to our lives. So it’s no wonder there’s so much discussion and debate…

Imagine that the world had no middlemen, no publishers, no bosses, no HR folks, no one telling you what you couldn’t do.

If you lived in that world, what would you do?

Go.

Do that.

NICE!

officialbeastieboys:

Good people, unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control, the “clean” version of our new album, The Hot Sauce Committee pt 2 has leaked. So as a hostile and retaliatory measure with great hubris we are making the full explicit aka filthy dirty nasty version available for streaming on our site. We hope this brings much happiness, hugs, and harmony. Enjoy Kikoos for life!

Thank you,

The Management
